Race day dilemmas.

I've never been very good at choosing what to wear. 

Back in school if there was a "non school uniform day" I'd always be filled with dread thinking about what to pick as an outfit. 

So when my old school friends invited me to Ladies Day at Chepstow Races, I was obviously excited to spend time with them but immediately my thoughts turned to what to wear! 

Now I know the specifications are not as strict as Ascot, but looking good is a matter of pride!! Well, pride and the fact that there is a £1,000 prize for the winner!! 

With thanks to the running challenge we have going at SGW, I am currently slimmer than I have been in a long while, also thanks to attending one too many parties I have ZERO budget!! So I've resorted to raiding my wardrobe. I've chosen my favourite Red dress, and teamed it with and old pair of wedges. So far zero cost! 

I then hit the shops and bought a fascinator from M&S and a bag from Accessorise  (which was damaged so on sale for a fiver!) All in all my outfit cost a grand total of £14.50!! I'm not saying I will win the best dressed but if I do that's pure profit! And you can buy a LOT of cocktails for a GRAND!! 

Will let you know how the day goes!! I'm mostly excited about the Take That tribute band!!!

Smooth out the lumps and bumps !!

Girls it doesn't matter whatever size you are, when it come to Christmas time every women has the same dilemma !! We all want to eat and enjoy ourselves, but also look fabulous in our Christmas dresses ! Lets be honest, there is no point saying 'oh I'm going to watch what I eat' because quite frankly that's not gonna happen ! It's Christmas, relax, enjoy yourself !!! When it comes to smoothing out those love handles invest in a good pair of 'pull you in' pants!
Every girl should purchase a pair, especially to help with the styles and cuts of the dresses out this season! Ok, so they may not be the most attractive looking panties, but they do the job!

They range in different 'strengths'! There and lots of mild 'pull you in's' that focus on flattening the stomach an then some that work well as scaffolding ! It's always a good idea to try them on with the dress that you are going to wear so you get the best fit!

I always go for black support underwear because I just think the colour is the most flattening but most stores also have ranges in white and nude !! Remember if your dress is white, always go for nude underwear! It won't show, where as white underwear will !

Christmas is around the corner !!!

We know its only November but its always good to be ready for the festive season !!!

•  To get some inspiration check out the Christmas departments in Harrods and Selfridges! They are well on their way to creating the Christmas cheer !!!

• It's a fab time to start making plans, so start to budget for presents, dinner and parties !!!

• Pick up all the Christmas catalogues and sit with a hot chocolate! Start to make a list of who you need to buy gifts for!

• Every lady needs a new frock for the winter season !! Take yourself shopping and purchase an outfit that you love!

• Buy your Christmas cards and stamps! Get writing !

• Get intouch with people, see what their plans are and arrange to meet !!!

• Last but not least, put a smile on your face !!! After all it is the season to be jolly !!!

We found a new shop....

We took a trip to Brick Lane market and stumbled upon this amazing shop. Collectif London has 40’s and 50’s inspired dresses, accessories and more and is officially our new favourite place for party dresses. From the minute we walked in there we fell in love with the unique looking dresses (we are currently in the middle of figuring out our individual dress styles so we were very excited).
We fell in love with everything about the shop, the colours and prints on the dresses and skirts, the cuts of the dresses, the quality of the dresses and the sizing.... The sizing is a dream, at last a clothes shop that does real women sizes!

Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day is traditionally a day feared by all single people. So this year we decided to embrace it.


We took a day away from the "Single Girl" Office, to indulge in a girly day as Best Friends.


Our day began, where everyday should, with breakfast. Coffee and croissant in hand we made our way over to the Mecca of all Jewelry stores. (Get it?!?! Breakfast @ Tiffany's.)
The only downside to shopping there, was when we stumbled without realising into the engagement ring section and had to quickly back out of the room as the loved-up couples were being handed champagne!!

While walking down Bond Street, we had to stop and watch in disbelief as men queued for the florist stall. Their foreheads clammy with sweat, anxiously checking the time before they had to be back in the office, the poor florist couldn't work fast enough the roses were quite literally flying out of the shop faster than you could say "I Love You." I mean really boys, the 14th had been advertised for at least 3 weeks, and you leave it till the last minute.


Another thing that was really making us laugh was all the single males that were about in the street, trying to make eye contact with any female in a desperate last ditched attempt to get a "Valentine". (COMING SOON: our blog all about how males struggle with certain days of the year.)


From here we continued in "Pretty Woman" fashion to the rest of the shops on Bond Street. We dreamed of orange alligator skin bags in Aspreys, and argued over whether we would buy shoes from Gina's or Jimmy Choo (we finally settled on Louboutin).


In true tragic Single Girl style we decided that the next logical step was to try on as many ball gowns as possible. So we made our way to Oxford Street, where we filled our arms with silks and sequins.

After being like Katherine Heigl in "27 dresses" (but not as glamourous) we were very hungry Single Girls.


Lunch consisted of yummy sandwiches and putting the world to rights. Once our bellies were full and universal order was restored, we headed back home with arms full of shopping, heads full of gossip and hearts full of love.


Being single on Valentine's Day doesn't have to be  hard as long as you have good friends around you!
